The author of this blog is 23 year-old Nathan J. MacAdams. His two large passions are words and sounds. Starting out on the trumpet at 10, he played in school bands all through college. MacAdams later picked up the piano and keyboards in high school. He is a student at Rowan University where he studies trumpet, music education, and recently started studying journalism. He is an avid funk, jazz fusion, and jazz rock fan. In 2011 he played in his first band, a ska revivalist group named “Gil and The Realtors”. Since then he has performed with several groups from the South Jersey/Philadelphia area which resonate with genres such as funk, blues, rock, jazz, indie, folks, and alternative. He has been a member of Heroes In Error, a “you-name-it” kind of band, for 3 years. MacAdams regularly performs with indie-folk rockers Rosu Lup. In 2013 he recorded “Lick It” with Matt Caringi and The Noise and in 2015, he recorded piano, keyboards, and flugelhorn on Rosu Lup’s 2016 release, “Is Anything Real”. Later that year he contributed to a solo record effort Shawnee Houlihan titled, “You Again”.
In February 2016, he started his own group called “The Third Arrangement” which has been steadily working on music and will be playing their first live show on April 30th at the Voltage Lounge in Philly. From there, they plan to play throughout the spring and summer months.
After Nathan graduates from Rowan University, he would like to tour the west coast and ultimately teach middle or high school band in the Northeast.
